The Northamptonshire Food Group (NFG) was set up in 2003 to support the county’s food economy and to promote the county’s produce, with the aim of raising awareness of the quality & variety of Northants food across the local supply chain. It encouraged & facilitated local sourcing and highlighted the benefits of consuming locally produced food.
Operating across the supply chain in the county and involving businesses of all sizes and from all parts of the industry as well as local & regional partners, the NFG provided excellent opportunities for networking and promotion through activities including information workshops, networking events, meet the buyer/supplier opportunities, media liaison & PR, a quarterly newsletter, a website and support from a Business Development Manager based in the county. Funding for the project ceased in June 2007.
A legacy of the project is that on this site you will find an extensive directory of local producers, retailers, processors, manufacturers, caterers, distributors and support services, where those seeking suppliers can search for the company or individual products they require. (However, please note that as entries are no longer being updated the accuracy of any information cannot be guaranteed.)
In addition a hard copy guide – Choosing & Using Northamptonshire Food & Drink 2007 – especially designed for those in the hospitality, foodservice & specialist retail trades listing specific local producers keen to supply to these markets can be obtained along with back copies of the NFG newsletter (while stocks last) from the Food & Drink Forum on 0115 875 8884 or via e mail enquiries@foodanddrinkforum.co.uk

NFG activities were made possible by funding from the East Midlands Development Agency and Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited (formerly Northamptonshire Partnership), plus in kind support from a variety of local partners. Special thanks go to all the individuals, businesses, partner organisations and funders that gave their time and support to the NFG project and its activities over its lifetime, helping to build an effective supply chain network in the county and raising the profile of Northamptonshire Food & Drink.
The NFG project was managed by The Food & Drink Forum, a not for profit organisation geared to support firms that work in the industry across the East Midlands. The Food & Drink Forum acts as a hub for a number of publicly funded projects aimed at the sector in the region as well as offering a range of tailored commercial & membership services.
